Method 1: Draw or type with transparency built in
The easiest way to get a transparent signature is to create it from scratch using a drawing tool or typing tool that supports transparent export. Both methods generate your signature with no background by default — just make sure the "Transparent background" option is checked before downloading as PNG.
SVG exports from these tools are also transparent by default, since SVG only contains the shapes you draw or the text you type — there's no background layer to remove.
Method 2: Remove the background from an uploaded photo
If you're working from a photo or scan of your handwritten signature, follow these steps:
- Sign your name with a dark pen on plain white paper.
- Take a photo or scan in good, even lighting — avoid shadows across the page.
- Upload the image to a transparent signature maker.
- Enable background removal, which detects light/white pixels and makes them transparent.
- Adjust the sensitivity slider if needed — a higher value removes more of the lighter shades, while a lower value preserves more detail.
- Download the result as a transparent PNG.
Tips for the cleanest result
