Whether you are signing a lease agreement, a job offer letter, a loan contract, or vendor invoices, having a clean digital signature saves hours of printing and scanning. Here is how to create and apply a professional signature for any document.
1. Choose between drawing, typing, or scanning
Different documents and personal preferences call for different creation methods:
- Drawing: Best if you want a natural, authentic signature that matches your physical pen strokes. Use a mouse, stylus, or touch screen on our Signature Generator (Draw mode).
- Typing: Best for consistent, highly legible signatures. Type your full name into our Signature Generator (Type mode) and pick a formal cursive font like Great Vibes or Allura.
- Scanning/Uploading: Sign your name on plain paper, photograph it in bright light, and use our Background Remover to remove the paper background.
2. Export as transparent PNG or SVG
Always ensure your signature image has a transparent background. A white background box looks unprofessional when placed over signature lines, shaded tables, or legal document footers. PNG and SVG files maintain crisp edge sharpness without unwanted background boxes.
3. Apply your signature to PDF contracts
To place your signature directly onto a document:
- Open our Sign PDF Online Tool.
- Upload your contract or form PDF file.
- Click Add signature and select your saved signature file.
- Drag the signature image over the designated signature line.
- Resize or rotate the signature so it aligns perfectly with the document text.
- Click Download signed PDF.
Browser-based security & confidentiality
When signing confidential business or financial paperwork, document privacy is critical. All signature rendering on i hate signature is executed entirely client-side inside your local browser memory. Your contracts are never uploaded to, processed on, or stored in any remote database.
